Miss Genetic and Epigenetic Influences on the Development and Treatment of ADHD?

Did you happen to miss the live presentation of Genetic and Epigenetic Influences on the Development and Treatment of ADHD with Dr. Bianca Garilli, ND?  The webinar recording is now available for viewing at the link below.  Approximately 11% of US children ages 4-17 years old have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.  Most are treated with stimulant medication often combined with behavioral therapy.  The goal of this lecture is to view the development of ADHD from a genetic and epigenetic perspective and to review the data supporting a lifestyle modification and nutritional approach in the treatment of ADHD.  Genetics may contribute to the etiology of ADHD and its related conditions but epigenetic factors have the potential to influence the expression of the genes and thus optimize potential outcomes.

Hawthorn University Holistic Health and Nutrition Webinar Series welcomes Hawthorn faculty member Dr. Bianca Garilli, ND for her presentation of Genetic and Epigenetic Influences on the Development and Treatment of ADHD.

In this presentation by Dr. Garilli you will:
1. Understand the genetic basis for ADHD and co-morbid conditions;
2. Review the role of environment on the expression of genes and the interaction of these epigenetic factors on the development of ADHD;
3. Present the research and clinical data supporting epigenetic interventions in the treatment of ADHD;
4. Discuss practical implementation of a personalized lifestyle modification and nutritional approach in children with ADHD which support optimal outcomes for each individual.
