Ancestral Psychiatry with Dr. Kelly Brogan, MD

How can we best understand our depression and anxiety from a holistic standpoint?  What are nutritional factors and non-medication interventions for the treatment of depressive and anxiety symptoms?
We look to answer these questions and more when Hawthorn University welcomes Dr. Kelly Brogan for her presentation Ancestral Psychiatry.

The recording of Dr. Brogan's presentation is now available to watch here:

In this webinar participants will explore literature undermining safety and efficacy claims surrounding antidepressants with a focus on long-term outcomes and relapse risk.  They will gain familiarity with physiologic imbalances, modifiable through diet and lifestyle interventions that can manifest as depression and anxiety such as thyroid imbalance, dysglycemia, or food intolerance.  The theory and application of cytokine models of depression, and the relevance of the gut/brain axis will be discussed.  Participants will also learn about the evidence to support considerations of nutritional factors and non-medication interventions for the treatment of depressive and anxiety symptoms.
