Hawthorn University Welcomes Dr. Bianca Garilli

Hawthorn University is pleased to welcome to the faculty Dr. Bianca Garilli, a former US Marine turned Naturopathic Doctor. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Maryland and her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington.
Dr. Garilli specializes in treating patients with chronic illnesses through natural and nutritional modalities. In her practice Dr. Garilli specializes in the treatment of chronic conditions such as cardio-metabolic concerns (high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, blood sugar dysregulation), gastrointestinal issues, chronic headaches/migraines, female hormone balancing, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Dr. Garilli often sees children as well – usually for issues of ADD/ADHD, autism and a multitude of other chronic health conditions including allergies, eczema, chronic earaches/respiratory/immune problems, and gastrointestinal concerns.
Dr. Garilli has completed advanced training in the DAN! (biomedical approach to autism treatment) protocol, First Line Therapy by Metagenics for cardio-metabolic conditions, and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy training through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).  She has also done extensive self-study on major topics in nutrition including the GAPS diet, Eat Right For Your Blood Type, Paleolithic diet, vegetarian/vegan diets, low-carb/glycemic index eating, Weston-Price philosophy, specific food-sensitivity diets including GFDF diets, allergy-elimination/detox protocols, Ayurvedic/ TCM approaches to eating and much more.
Dr. Garilli has been on staff at the University of California at Irvine as volunteer clinical faculty and as a practitioner at the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine (SSCIM). She consults with Metagenics, a nutraceutical company for educational program development and professional consultations and was a co-creator of the Live Longer, Live Better Program for UC Irvine’s integrative medical center.
In addition to treating patients, Dr. Garilli loves educating on the topics of health and wellness. She has been a speaker at various universities and medical colleges in the US, is an avid lecturer within her community and frequently contributes articles to various healthcare journals and publications. 
Dr. Garilli lives with her husband and two beautiful and amazing children in the Sacramento, CA area. She loves to cook, garden, read and, after her family’s recent purchase of six baby chickens, she has dubbed herself an “emerging urban farmer.”
